Harrison Hot Springs Tai Chi Retreat (2024)

Group photo

In mid-October, due to the Capitol Hill Community Hall being used as a polling station for the BC provincial election and the Thanksgiving long weekend, our Tai Chi Club had a ten-day break. Sifu decided to take this opportunity to hold a three-day Tai Chi retreat at the beautiful Harrison Hot Springs.

Dinner group photoOn the afternoon of October 15th, 40 members and their families arrived at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort. We gathered later at the Copper Room for dinner. Accompanied by live music, we enjoyed delicious food, danced joyfully, and engaged in great conversations, making it a relaxing and enjoyable evening to kick off the retreat.

The second day featured three workshops hosted by Sifu at the Harrison Holiday Park, introducing the Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade) and highlighting the key points for practicing Tai Chi Chuan and Tai Chi weapon forms. Regardless of experience level, all participants practiced together under Sifu’s guidance, learning how to incorporate the principles of these traditional exercises into their practice and daily life for health benefits. Everyone gained valuable insights and strengthened their friendships.

During the morning of October 17th, members participated in various activities in smaller groups. Some relaxed in the hot springs, others took walks by the lake to enjoy the serenity, and some chose to explore other attractions on their way back. Everyone returned feeling fulfilled and content.
