About Sifu Laurens Kam To Lee
Sifu Laurens Kam To Lee studied Tai Chi Chuan with the late Grandmaster
Tchoung Ta Tchen of the Chinese Tai Chi Chuan Association of Canada and was the President of the Association. Having taught Tai Chi Chuan for over three decades, he also founded the "Kam To Tai Chi Chuan Association". He is currently the instructor of Tai Chi Chuan classes at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreatinon Centre, Capitol Hill Community Hall and throughhout Greater Vancouver.
Sifu Lee assisted Grandmaster Tchoung in translating and editing the book The Annotated Theoretical and Practical Tai Chi Chuan and accompanied him in giving workshops at Kitimat & Terrace (B.C.), Toronto and New York. In 1996, he organized a conference titled "Tai Chi Chuan and Modern Lifestyles." Jointly presented by the Chinese Tai Chi Chuan Association of Canada and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Vancouver, the conference featured nineteen Tai Chi Chuan masters visiting from different places of North America. In 2006, he was invited by the Fairchild Television to present an instructional Tai Chi Chuan series in the “Morning Exercise” programme, which is still broadcast in Eastern and Western Canada to date.
Over all these years, Sifu Lee has sat as judge in international Tai Chi Chuan tournaments held locally. Dedicated to promoting health and wellness through practice of Tai Chi, he has been actively engaging with communities. He conducted workshops at Langara College’s Professional Development Day, BC Elders Gathering, Hollyburn Country Club, and Pui Ying Christian Services Society. He also led his students to give demonstrations during the Asian Heritage Month and at Roundhouse Community Centre's Summer on the Turntable.
